MEET DAVID MALTBY

David’s passion for photography was ignited over 11 years ago whilst traveling through Europe. He discovered a great joy and comfort in capturing memories of the trip. Soon after returning from overseas, he decided to pursue his love by completing a Diploma of Photography through the Photography Institute. This was followed by thousands of hours studying and learning the art of photography. As his passion and confidence grew, and with the support from his wife Jodie, he moved from being a hobbyist photographer to professional photographer. In 2010 David Maltby Images was established.
In 2017 David made the decision to expand and pursue full time wedding photographic opportunities. He reached out to wedding suppliers and developed a business partnership with Sue Taylor and Elope or Wed with a Twist. He hasn’t looked back since and over the past 4 years David has captured over 350 weddings for the Elope or Wed with a Twist team at the gorgeous venue Mystwood at Wollombi.
David's photographic style is candid and authentic. He’s dedicated to ensuring that the couple’s wedding story is told from a journalistic perspective. Most importantly, he gives support to couples by ensuring their posture, location and lighting assist in delivering the most perfect photos of their wedding day.
David invests in the most up to date camera equipment and during a wedding he will carry two camera bodies with numerous lenses to allow him to capture images from up close or from a distance. He has a thorough knowledge of editing programs like Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and, most importantly, he has systems in place to ensure all wedding images, the most precious of memories, are stored and backed up securely.

Thailand/Bali.
What is your favourite thing about your career?
Being creative and always having the ability to learn and get better.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
Starting my photography business from scratch and now shooting nearly 400 weddings and other commercial work.
What makes you laugh the most?
Dad jokes and dry humour.
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
Go to England and watch Liverpool play at Anfield.
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
You’ll never walk alone.
What is your favourite part of a wedding day?
When the Groom or Bride sees their partner walking down the aisle towards them.
